Deadly Domestic Shooting in Montgomery Township Leaves One Dead, One Injured

By Tiffany Williams –

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — One person is dead and another hospitalized after a violent police incident inside a home in Montgomery Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers responded to the 6300 block of Montgomery Church Road just after 6:30 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a man suffering from a single gunshot wound inside the residence.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted on the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified her as Buffi Camille Smith, 49, a resident of the home.

The man, identified as Larry S. Seville, 51, of Mercersburg and Smith’s ex-husband, was removed from the scene and transported to WellSpan York Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the sequence of events is clear. State police determined that Seville forced his way into the home while armed with a firearm and is accused of shooting Smith multiple times, causing her death.

Police say Seville then shot himself.

The Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office responded and are continuing the investigation.

The Franklin County District Attorney has approved charges against Seville for first-degree murder and burglary, and a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Montgomery Church Road was closed between Cool Hollow and Welsh Run roads as investigators worked the scene.
