MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A rush-hour argument between two armed men exploded into gunfire Wednesday evening near a busy northwest Miami-Dade gas station, leaving one shooter critically wounded and the other on the run, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. near the Mobil gas station at Northwest 12th Avenue and 103rd Street.
Investigators said two men got into an argument before both pulled out guns and began firing.
One of the shooters was hit.
Authorities said the wounded man managed to drive himself to North Shore Hospital after the shooting. He was later transported to Ryder Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
The other shooter fled.
Investigators believe that man left the scene in a black sedan. Authorities have not provided additional identifying information about him.
The violence unfolded either at or immediately next to the gas station during the evening rush hour.
Gunfire also struck a red vehicle parked at one of the gas pumps.
Despite bullets flying near a busy gas station, authorities said no innocent bystanders were injured.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said it was fortunate that no innocent people were caught in the gunfire.
Investigators are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding the argument and shooting as authorities continue searching for the second shooter.
The information released by authorities did not identify either shooter, indicate what sparked the confrontation or disclose whether any charges have been filed.
One man remains critically wounded.
The other shooter remains on the run.
